Barbara Quinn grew up in the New York City suburbs. From the days when she was tiny she loved to paint and, in fact, remembers ONLY painting in nursery school, flunking all other intellectual pursuits. However, after nursery school, she did manage to explore and study other subjects, went on to graduate from Brandeis Universtiy with a BA in Fine Arts, became a graphic designer, took some illustration courses at the Corcoran School of Art, and called herself an illustrator.

Her design work is always concerned with both getting her clients' message across in the simplest, most direct way possible, and creating print and web pieces that are appealing and beautiful to look at.

Much of her illustration work is done in acrylics, although she uses pastels and watercolor as well. Increasingly she is creating illustration in Photoshop. Even though her painting style in fine art is different from her illustration style, both are concerned primarily with light and shadow, color and texture.

Coming up with concepts for her clients' illustrations is always challenging and fun.
